Here's what you need to know (and do) to connect the laptop to a wireless network and Internet access.
First of all, let's talk common sense. Before a wireless network to access a particular audience in a place that has been installed antivirus software and up-to-date on your laptop. Your laptop should also be current with all updates of the Windows operating system.

If you are unsure if you have not, follow these steps to check it out: Click Start | Show all connections, or | Connection Click Start | Settings | (Control Panel) | Network Connections Under "LAN or High Speed Internet" you should have a wireless connection icon. (If not, see below about installing a wireless network card). Assuming you have wireless capabilities, continue on the following: The right mouse button on the wirelessLink icon. In the pop-up menu, select "View Available Wireless Networks". Click on "Wireless Network Connection" window to the appropriate wireless network. Check the box "Allow the connection to the selected wireless network." An icon in the lower right of your desktop should eventually appear that you are connected. Open your browser and visit a site you want. If authentication is required tothe wireless network, you automatically to a login page where it is recommended you enter a network user name / ID and password will be redirected.
This is all you need.
Note: If you already have your laptop in a wireless network, you must purchase and install or have installed a wireless network card. There are many brands of wireless network cards. So make sure a card, 802.11b or buy802.11g. Linksys cards are an excellent choice and I recommend them highly enough. If you choose another brand, make sure the card is WiFi Certified.
